Voting Has Never Been More Important

Mark the mid-term elections on your calendar. Tuesday, November 2, 2010 is a very important day to Virginians and all Americans. We are fighting to maintain control of the House and the Senate. We are fighting for the change President Obama promised us and has been bringing about since he took office. If we lose the House or the Senate, we will lose valuable ground we gained in spite of the unified Republican effort to block Obama's agenda. Every program, every effort, and every proposal Democrats have made has met with unprecedented filibusters.

Step One:

Make sure you are registered. The deadline for registering as a voter in Hanover County for the upcoming mid-term elections is October 12, 2010. If you have any questions about whether you can vote, search voter registration on the Virginia State Board of Elections website.

Step Two:

Know where you will be voting; know your polling place. Hanover County residents can find information on their precinct location by checking the Hanover County Electoral Board precincts page.

Absentee voting:

If you are going to be out of town or unable to get to the polls on Election Day, you may cast an absentee ballot. You may cast an absentee ballot in two ways: in person in advance, or by mail. Absentee voting in person begins approximately 30 days before the mid-term elections and ends on the Saturday before the election, October 30. The deadline to request the application for an absentee ballot by mail is no later than 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2010. To vote by absentee ballot in person the deadline is 5:00 p.m., Saturday, October 30, 2010. For more information, click HERE.

If you are a Randolph Macon College student and 18 years of age, you may register to vote in Hanover County. If you register to vote in Hanover, you may not register to vote in another jurisdiction.
