The HDC Caucus scheduled for May 1 to nominate delegates to the 7th Congressional District convention is cancelled. The number of pre-filings did not fill all 24 delegate seats at the 7th Congressional District Convention on May 15th. Everyone who returned the pre-filing form is now declared a delegate representing Hanover.

The Convention will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, May 15, 2010, at the Pocahontas Middle School, 12000 Three Chopt Rd., Richmond, Virginia 23233 (Henrico County).

Any person wishing to seek election as a delegate or alternate must prefile with Gordon Silver, Chair of the Hanover County Democratic Committee, P. O. Box 22, Ashland, Va, 23005, no later than 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 27, 2010 (postmarks do not govern). Voluntary administrative fees (which may be waived) of $10.00 for the 7th Congressional District Convention and $10.00 for the Hanover County Democratic Committee will be levied for those filing to be a delegate or alternate.

Doors to the caucus will open at 11:00 a.m. for check-in. Any person attending the caucus but not intending to be a delegate shall sign a standardized Caucus Participation Form stating that he or she is a Democrat, does not intend to support any candidate who is opposed to a Democratic nominee in the ensuing general election, believes in the principles of the Democratic Party, and is a registered voter in Hanover County. Caucus Participation Forms must be filled out at the caucus prior to participating in the caucus.

There is no charge for anyone wishing to attend and vote at the caucus.

At noon the doors to the caucus will be closed and no person may complete a Caucus Participation Form and participate in the caucus after that time with the exception of those persons in line at noon.

If only one person pre-files for each delegate or alternate position, the caucus will be cancelled. In this event the Chair will publicly announce the cancellation, proclaim the individuals properly filed as the duly nominated delegates and alternates, and so advise those individuals.
