I am hopeful that our elected officials will review every pathway forward to defend the outcome of our fair election. The Virginia Supreme Court should not be able to overturn the will of the people. In the meantime, Hanover Dems, Let’s Get To Work! Now, more than ever, we are fighting to save our Democracy! We all need to stand up and fight back by making our voices heard, and do everything possible to get our Democratic Candidates elected in November. We have less than six months before the midterm elections. We don’t have time to sit back and lick our wounds.

I am proud of our Committee and the work we did to WIN the Vote YES election on April 21st. And I’ll be even prouder when we flip CD-01 and CD-05 and send Wittman and McGuire packing!

There will be NO meeting in May so we can all have a much-needed day off for Mother’s Day. Instead, we’ll have a joint social event with Drinking Liberally on Thursday, May 28th at 6:30pm at Mexico Restaurant in Mechanicsville (7162 Mechanicsville Tpke). Please join us for a fun evening with like-minded friends talking politics. Appetizers are on the HDC! And, of course, non-alcoholic beverages are always an option. Hanover Dems will be hosting an ICE Observer Training at our April 12th General Meeting, 4:00 pm at The Gathering Place, 155 Junction Dr, Ashland.
The training will be conducted by Janet Eddy and other members of Indivisible Central Virginia. They will have packets with whistles to give out. Anyone interested in attending the training is welcome to join us!

March 4 6:30 pm at the Mechanicsville Library – The Hanover Democratic Committee and NAACP are teaming up to hold a town hall on the reasoning for the redistricting proposition on the ballot in April.

Join us at our next meeting on February 8th to hear from Pat Hunter-Jordan, Hanover NAACP President. We will also be discussing the Redistricting proposition. Our monthly general meeting is at 4pm at The Gathering Place at RVA Around the Table at 155 Junction Drive in Ashland.

The Blue Wave Bash is our major fundraiser of the year and it is right around the corner. Our 17th annual event this year will be Thursday, April 23 at the Hanover Tavern at 13181 Hanover Courthouse Road, Hanover VA 23069

Happy New Year to all! Congrats to our new Chair Wendy Brooks and gratitude to our departing Chair Rachel Levy. Be sure to come to our next meeting on January 11th to see Wendy at the helm and to hear from Matt Butler and Chris Pearson from New Virginia Majority about the National Popular Vote. We are now accepting memberships and renewals for the 2026-2027 cycle that began in January.

All Democratic and like-minded women are welcome to our coffee. Our next coffee will be at 6:30, February 16 at the Atlee Library.
