Men's Forum

The Men's Forum is combining with the Women's Coffee to welcome U.S. Senator Tim Kaine, First Congressional District Candidate Vangie Williams, and Senator Jennifer McClellan.  Please RSVP to Forum Chair Nelson Vaughan at vnvaughan@aol.com. See you Sunday, Sept. 16 at 2 p.m.

The next monthly gathering of the Hanover Democratic Men's Forum will be held on Wednesday, August 22 at 7:00 pm at the home of Rick Lux, 11253 Silverstone Drive, Mechanicsville 23116.  These Democratic Men's Forums provide an opportunity for Hanover Democratic men to meet, socialize, talk politics and hear interesting speakers.  The host and Chair of these Democratic Men's Forums, Nelson Vaughan, says hors-d'oeuvres will be served.

This month's speaker will be Ola Hawkins a member of the Hanover County School Board.  Ms. Hawkins is a native of Richmond, attended college in New York and Virginia and is, I believe the only member of the school board with any hands-on educational experience.  Come and learn how our children and grandchildren are being educated to be viable members of our society, what issues they have faced and what issues they will face in the future.  Come prepared with questions/issues.  We are hoping also to be joined by a representative of the Vangie Williams for Congress campaign and the coordinated Kaine/Williams campaign who will give us updates on their campaigns.

The purpose of these monthly Men's Forums is to socialize, invigorate, educate and elect Democrats and is a great opportunity to get to know like-minded Democratic men in a way that you just can't in other venues in this predominantly Republican county.  The monthly Saturday morning committee meetings are great but you don't have the opportunity to talk and to get to know one another on a more social level.  It also gives those who can't attend the Saturday morning meetings a chance to get involved.  So please join us on Wednesday, August 22 at 7:00 pm.  Don't miss this opportunity to socialize and mobilize.

RSVP to Nelson Vaughan at vnvaughan@aol.com or call the cell phone and text messages 201.826.7093; home 804.496.6217.

If you are a woman and receive this, please send to your favorite Democratic male relative, neighbor or friend.

The next monthly gathering of the Hanover Democratic Men's Forum will be held on Wednesday, July 25 at 7:00 pm at the home of Dale Mann 12778 Mount Hermon Road, Ashland.  These Democratic Men's Forums provide an opportunity for Hanover Democratic men to meet, socialize, talk politics and hear interesting speakers.  The Chair of these Democratic Men's Forums, Nelson Vaughan, says hors d'oevres will be served.

Directions to Dale's home:  Off I-95 take exit 92A East unto route VA54, East Patrick Henry Road toward Hanover Courthouse.  Once on VA 54, take the first right onto Mt. Hermon Road (VA656).  1 mile down on the left at the political sign and white fences turn left between the trees.  Turn right at the house and go thru the gates on the right.  Past the shed, you'll see a white fence around a horse paddock.  Please park in there and walk back to the house.  GPS may take you a different way, on the farm side of the property, but after a little wandering around a bit, park in the horse paddock.

This month's speaker will be our own Kelly Thomasson who is the Secretary of the Commonwealth under Governor Northam.  Kelly had previously served under Governor McAuliffe and Senator Warner.  She was named in 2017 by Style Weekly as one of the top 40 under 40. Come and hear the crucial issues facing the Secretary of the Commonwealth including voter restoration rights.

So please join us on Wednesday, July 25 at 7:00 pm.  Don't miss this opportunity to socialize and mobilize.

Eagle Road on the left.

This month's speaker will be John Suddarth, one of three nominees for Virginia's First Congressional District to oppose Rob Wittman.  As everyone knows the Democratic Primary Election will be held on June 12.  John will be speaking to us either as the nominee to oppose Wittman or as one of the people who will be pulling together all the Democrats of the Santana, Suddarth and Williams campaigns to defeat Wittman in November.  John has served as the Board Chair of Hanover Habitat for Humanity and has been very active in the HDC overseeing the Committee's fundraising efforts.
