The Hanover Democratic Committee welcomed Breanna Diaz of the Virginia ACLU to its monthly meeting on Oct. 8 Breanna is policy and legislative counsel for the state chapter. She gave a passionate presentation on how the ACLU is working for the rights of the marginalized community, including LGBTQ rights in Hanover. “Hanover County is an epicenter with the country’s eye on it,” she cautioned. Breanna said nearly 300 pieces of anti-LGBTQ legislation have been introduced in state legislatures in the last year. For more information, visit the ACLU-Virginia website.
