The Blue Moon Bash is our major fundraiser of the year and it is right around the corner. Our 16th annual event this year will be at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 24 at the Hanover Tavern at 13181 Hanover Courthouse Road, Hanover VA 23069.
Our guest speakers will be Chris Piper, executive director of the Virginia Public Access Project, the nonpartisan site on Virginia campaigns and elections, and State Sen. Lamont Bagby, new chair of the Democratic Party of Virginia.
Meal options must be chosen at the time of purchase. Options are: BBQ beef brisket (gluten free), grilled chicken breast (gluten free), and butternut squash pasta with cream sauce. Sodas, sweet, and unsweetened iced tea are included, but anyone wanting an alcoholic beverage must purchase drink tickets. Hurry because we need meal choices soon.
All funds raised pay for our operations, our voter outreach efforts, and fund contributions that we make to Democratic candidates on the general election ballot in Hanover County. We have done very well in recent years, moving the needle slowly but surely in Hanover County. In 2024, Hanover was one of the few localities in Virginia and in the country to not only hold the line but to move in a more Democratic direction. In early 2025, the Democratic candidate in the special election for SD-10, Jack Trammell, lost Hanover County by only about 50 votes. This is due to the hard work of our Committee and our Democratic candidates over the years, and we can not do this work without funding.
Everything you need to know is at this link. It promises to be a great Democratic evening.
