16 – Virginians for Reproductive Freedom is officially kicking off their campaign to amend Virginia’s Constitution this November with a rally and march on Saturday, May 16th. They’ll be gathering in Richmond at 12:00pm and would love for us to join them. RSVP here.
28 – 6:30 at Mexico Restaurant in Mechanicsville (7162 Mechanicsville Tpke). Please join us for a fun evening with like-minded friends talking politics. Appetizers are on the HDC! And, of course, non-alcoholic beverages are always an option. If you plan to attend, please RSVP to hvademocrats@gmail.com so that we can plan accordingly.

6 – Ashland Strawberry Faire! Saturday, June 6th from 10am to 5pm! We will have our booth at the Ashland Strawberry Faire! We are going to need volunteers to help greet attendees-a sign up will be coming out soon. Even if you can’t volunteer, come on out and see us!
11 – On Thursday, June 11th from 8:30am to 4:30pm, the Hanover County Government is hosting a day of training at Randolph-Macon College focused on strengthening our region’s response to human trafficking. This event will feature presentations and panel discussions from law enforcement, service providers, and policymakers, offering valuable updates, practical insights, and opportunities for collaboration. You will also hear a powerful survivor story, grounding the day’s learning in lived experience and reinforcing the importance of a coordinated approach. Lunch will be provided. 14 – Monthly meeting at The Gathering Place at RVA Around the Table (155 Junction Drive). Our meeting program will be Political Strategy in Hanover County led by Jennifer Wolfe, HDC Vice Chair of Voter Outreach, Field Operations & Campaigns and Rich Johnson, HDC Treasurer. We’ll also hear from Major Ricky Dandridge who is running in the special election for Hanover County Sheriff on November 3rd
27 – On the weekend of the DPVA Blue Commonwealth Gala, the DPVA Women’s Caucus will host their 20th Anniversary Breakfast Fundraiser to take place on Saturday, June 27th at 8am at the Richmond Marriott. This promises to be an exciting event with highly regarded Democratic women in Virginia politics as speakers! The funds raised go towards support for women candidates running for office in Virginia at the state and local levels, including those who run in Hanover! Get your tickets here before they sell out!
