2025 is a major election year and we will have a strong field of candidates for Hanover Democrats to rally around to regain the three statewide offices and hold control of the General Assembly. Here is the candidate field as of now. The statewide primary is June 17.
Governor: Abigail Spanberger
Abigail is the former representative from the 7th District. She grew up in Henrico, served as a CIA officer and “gets things done.” Learn more about Abigail.
Lieutenant Governor:
At this time, we have six candidates for lieutenant governor, though a couple have yet to complete paperwork according to the Board of Elections. They are:

Babur Lateef
Levar Stoney
Victor Salgado

Attorney General:
Candidates for attorney general are Shannon Taylor and Jay Jones. Shannon is the Henrico County prosecutor while Jay is a former delegate from Norfolk.

While our Chair and Committee as a whole cannot endorse or help any one candidate over another when there is a Democratic primary, we encourage our members and supporters individually to volunteer with or help any Democratic campaigns or candidates they so choose and we encourage all of our members and supporters to sign the petitions to help get those candidates on the primary ballot.
