Our next Hanover Democratic Committee meeting will be on Sunday, Oct. 13 and come prepared to work. This will be our first HDC Day of Action. instead of a traditional meeting, we’ll be gathering starting at 1:00 p.m. at our regular spot in Ashland.
Here are the sample ballots that we will be hanging out for the 2024 elections. They are similar except for differences in the congressional race, with Leslie Mehta in the 1st District and Gloria Tinsley Witt in the 5th District.

A democracy can’t survive without citizens stepping up to run for public office, so TAN is deeply grateful for all the wonderful candidates who ran in the primary election. Whether our preferred candidate won or not, TAN readers understand we must get behind general election candidates to oust MAGA lackey congressmen Rob Wittman and John McGuire. Hanover has a great ticket to work for: Senator Mark Warner for reelection, Henrico Commonwealth Attorney Shannon Taylor for Congress from CD 1 and former congressman Tom Periello for CD 5.
A. Canvass
You can now knock doors in Hanover for the coordinated Senate and House candidates. You will only be sent to homes that are likely Democratic, so it is the best way to turn out the vote. Remember, when we vote, we win!

B. Write Postcards
We must defeat Rob Wittman and John McGuire, so we need to get busy writing postcards! Bundles of 20 postcards, each containing 20 names, addressees, scripts, and complete instructions, will be available for pickup at the following locations:
• Our HDC meeting on Sunday, August 9th at 4 pm.
• The Ashland Library (201 S Railroad Ave) on Saturday, August 22nd from 10 am to 12 noon.
• Drinking Liberally at Mexico Restaurant in Mechanicsville on Thursday, August 27th at 6:30 pm.
• The Atlee Library (9212 Rutlandshire Drive) on Thursday, September 3rd from 6 to 8 pm.
• Before our HDC Meeting on Sunday, September 13th from 2 to 4 pm at The Gathering Place at RVA Around the Table (155 Junction Drive).
• The Atlee Library on Tuesday, September 22nd from 6 to 8 pm.
• Drinking Liberally at Mexico Restaurant in Mechanicsville on Thursday, September 24th at 6:30 pm.
• The Mechanicsville Library (7461 Sherwood Crossing Place) on Saturday, October 3rd from 10 am to noon.
• Our HDC meeting on Sunday, October 11th at 4 pm.
